Q. What if my email or other details in my account change - will that affect my renewal reminders?
A. Not at all. Any Partner account details or Client renewal details can be changed without the reminder being interrupted in any way.
Similarly, once a reminder date has been set it can be changed any time.
Q. When I am logged in and adding a new license for renewal reminder should I be entering my client/enduser email address in the "Email" field or my own?
A. The "Email" field is intended for your client details. In order to use the system effectively all fields should be filled with client/enduser details when adding a new license renewal reminder. Over the years many resellers have gotten into the habit of using their own/company email in place of the enduser/clients when installing and registering their software, like Antivirus software for example.
Understandably the reseller is trying to use the system to their advantage and ensure they are the ones receiving the reminder at the time of renewal. The problem is - many manufacturers will blacklist an email address or deactivate a license if they see it used too many times during the install and registration process.
At the time you received your Partner login credentials from myREG your main email was entered into your Partner account by myREG admin staff. From that point forward you will receive an email notification on EVERY renewal reminder you set.
When adding a new license, entering the customer/client email into the "Email" field serves 2 purposes; the obvious being - complete customer/client records. Essentially this is intended to be a client license record and having complete details will allow for accurate followup at time of renewal. Second being; customer email reminders. You'll notice the "Email Customer Renewal" option. If you choose to, you can have the myREG system also send a friendly reminder to your customer on your behalf. You'll need to have the "Email" field correctly filled out to do this.
Q. Is myREG.me intended to be used to with Antimalware/Antivirus licensing only?
A. myREG.me was originally developed as a tool for resellers of Antimalware/Antivirus products to capture renewals but there is nothing that makes myREG.me unique to Antimalware product licensing alone.
Because renewal periods can be spread out with Antimalware products it is hard to reliably and consistently track renewal periods(1,2,3year). This combined with the fact that most Antimalware/Antivirus software developers add in their own “pop-up” reminder to the program itself makes it challenging for the reseller to control and capture renewals from their own clients. Although the system has pre-set 1, 2, &3 year term reminders, you would also be able to set a manual reminder to alert you at another date of your choosing technically allowing you to use myREG.me with other similar term licensed software programs or services.
Q. If the premise of myREG.me is based on "scheduling" why wouldn’t I just be able to do this myself with any other appointment/task scheduling program?
A. You can - but don’t forget, literally, don’t forget! The focus here is "Consistency & Maintenance”.
Even the best scheduling systems need to be maintained and updated consistently over time in order to remain reliable and the more time that goes by, on average, the more unreliable a scheduling system and the people maintaining that system can become.
Maintenance - the scheduling data base you build within myREG.me is stored and maintained off-site which is more reliable over the long term.
Consistency - one of the biggest reasons scheduling systems fail to alert is because things change over time.
Have you ever set a long-term or recurring task in Microsoft Outlook for example and missed it completely, or for that matter found that a follow-up was never set? A year is a long time - people and job position, policy/procedure and company direction can all affect consistency...
Being consistent in both the setting of a renewal reminder and its follow-up is the difference between a well maintained client base, and lost revenues.
It takes time and effort to maintain a reliable system. For one reason or another be it user error or environmental factors, the longer a task or reminder sits the greater the chance for error.
User Error
- task wasn’t set correctly,
- task database not exported/imported if hardware change, upgrades, etc....
- long term tasks are frequently left by the wayside due to application obsolescence. (i.e. - the scheduling program itself may become obsolete and inadvertently replaced/updated without any thought given to an existing database and/or pre-set long term reminders.
Environmental;
- corruption or system crash causing permanent data loss.
- Physical damage
Q. Is myREG.me secure? Can I safely and reliably record my client licensing details here?
A. myREG.me complies with data storage and privacy standards similar to that of Off-site Back-up providers.
myREG.me operates on a “closed membership” system. This means there isn’t a standard form where membership is issued automatically after sign-up.
Membership and site login credentials are given manually to each Partner.
Q. How does myREG.me alert me to a client renewal coming due? How is it sent out and who receives it?
A. After a reminder is set, for example on a 1 year license renewal, an email will be sent to that Partner alerting them to a renewal coming due.
Optionally, at the time a renewal reminder is set the Partner will also be able to have the client/enduser receive a custom reminder as well. The Partner will receive an email reminder detailing the licensing information they entered when they first set the renewal reminder. The Client/Enduser can also receive a custom notification containing anything from a simple reminder letting them know to contact their reseller for renewals, to a link directing the client/enduser to that resellers order management page where the client can finalize the purchase of their own renewal. Payment and renewal licensing can be completed there without any reseller interaction.
Q. How can I offer feedback or suggest ideas? What will future versions of myREG.me include?
A. myREG.me Partners have direct access to phone and email support. Problems, suggestions, and general comments are welcome anytime.
